Services
The restoration of everything from pond models up to professional builder’s models covers the span of MacLock’s capabilities, although marine related items such as ships clocks and lamps have been included on occasion.
Service One
Primarily ship model restoration, MacLock does not focus on building ship models or other items from scratch for clients although he has done this once or twice in the past. The studio workshop is equipped to replace almost any missing wooden part, cast or fabricate new metal parts and refinish hulls and rigging to their original state according to the conditions a client prefers.
Sub-Service One
Shipping is a service MacLock rarely takes on due to the fragile nature of these restored items. Usually a company who specializes in moving delicate antiques would be employed.
Maclock prefers clients to deliver or pick up items, that is why he services only within the Pacific Northwest.
Service Two
Due to the fragile nature of these restored models, especially ones with complex rigging, keeping them clean from dust is a concern. Protection from pets as well. This sometimes requires the construction of a glass or plexiglass case. Cases are an option although constructing them becomes a separate work order.
Sub-Service Two
Maclock will gladly give estimates for potential restorations but would have to see the item personally. Estimates can only be ball-park if item can only be seen by scan or video.
Sub-Service Three
The cleaning of marine paintings and restoration of their frames can occasionally be taken on as a project.
